The Challenge

Lifting Challenges in Foundries

Every industry has its own lifting risks. Here are the ones Aggra Cranes helps customers solve every day.

Molten Metal Handling

A jerk, overload or collision during ladle transfer can cause a spill with serious consequences.

Heat, Dust & Fumes

Harsh conditions strain equipment and reduce operator visibility across the bay.

Side Pull & Uneven Loads

Mould stripping and casting extraction can create angled pulls that overstress the crane.

Several Cranes, One Bay

Melting, pouring and fettling cranes often share the same runway and working area.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is overload protection so important in foundries?

Foundry cranes regularly lift ladles, moulds and castings close to their rated capacity. A load limiter stops the lift if the load goes beyond the safe limit, protecting the crane, the load and the people nearby.

What is side pull and how can it be prevented?

Side pull happens when the crane lifts at an angle instead of vertically, for example when stripping moulds or dragging castings. A side pull protection device detects this and prevents the unsafe lift.

Can anti-collision systems work in hot, dusty foundry bays?

Our team assesses your bay conditions and selects a system suited to them. Share your layout and crane details and we will recommend the right set-up.

Can we monitor our foundry cranes remotely?

Yes. With Intellikran, crane data such as load, operating hours and alarms can be viewed remotely, helping maintenance teams act before problems grow.
